The nice thing about it for note taking is the instant-linking any word that you might want a definition or explanation for, you can click on, hit "link" and you've got a page to enter in whatever details you like about that word or term.įor example, in art history I might want to link Renoir to a seperate page of text with his dates and a list of his major works I highlight "Renoir" in my notes, click "Link," and enter in all the data for him that I want available. I really like this solution: The palm+keyboard are cheaper than an iBook, so I could put more money on a nice tower and Tinderbox. Personally, I take my notes on a PalmPilot+Targus keyboard, with the outliner ShadowPlan ( ) which has a nice XML file format (conduit still in development on the Mac, unfortunately, but the desktop app will translate PDB to XML) and I use XSL to translate that to OmniOutliner or Tinderbox depending on my needs (and back again.) It is highly important to me that any tool uses XML, so I can use XSL to do all kinds of things to the resulting data. Otherwise I agree that NoteBook, NoteTaker VoodooPad and of course OmniOutliner are great note taking/organizing tools. If you have money to spare: Start taking your notes in Tinderbox.įor note taking itself, it won't beat NotationalVelocity (though it is on par) but after the notes are taken, it is the best way to organize said notes with links, diagrams, etc.
